- CP occurs in about 2 per 1000 births a year (NICHCY, 2010).
- While CP is seen in children of all socioeconomic backgrounds, it is more often seen in infants and children from an impoverished socioeconomic background.
- Males are at a higher risk of having CP than females
- Premature infants
- Low weight infants
- Infants born as twins, triplets, or higher multiple. In the cases of twins, it is unlikely that both infants will have CP.
